Re: Inconsistency when creating a new document (between Word, TextMaker and Writer)

TextMaker uses the 1.0 ODT specification. MS Word and LibreOffice uses the newer 1.3 version where changes were introduced. TM's implementation of the ODT format isn't perfect and there have been plenty of minor issues I have reported over the years, including the need up update to the latest specif...

Re: Auto Full stop

If you are using a virtual keyboard, this is probably the one doing the change. Check the settings of whatever keyboard you use, just to make sure. With some there is an option to prevent the keyboard ofdoign this, with other you need to turn off autocorrect.

Re: Convert to PowerPoint

To be honest, what you ask makes little sense. The whole idea with PDF was to be an universal, standardized portable format (PDF stands for Portable Document Format) meaning *everything* required for the document to be displayed as it was intended to is in the file itself. It was envisioned and desi...

Re: Presales question: Softmaker resolution on KDE 6 wayland - Arch

Scaling on Wayland is unreliable at best. SMO offers its own scaling setting. Look for it under Options => Appearance => User interface size

Re: Missing Video Codecs

Most, if not all, Desktops relies on gstreamer this days so is a "given", I suppose.

Now what is uncommon this days is the use of wmv. To be honest I would simply convert the video to a more standard/better supported file format and be done with it.

Re: Possible Bug with “(floating)” Character Styles

Ok. I think I understand what the problem is. You applied a character style: math to "here" and then subscript to "h" hoping that h would inherit the character style of math. As far as I know is not possible to ¿have two character styles applied to the same character. The manual ...

I agree with you Michael. Even the argument about Netscape vs IE seems like it was done with AI. Those of us who lived the Browser wars know better than to fall for that over-simplified and out of context comparison.

Re: Missing Video Codecs

You do not have the wmv codec installed. The error is right there in what you share. Check you have libavcodec and gstreamer good, band and ugly codecs installed. This should solve the issue.

VLC can play this file because it has its own video codecs. Same foes for mpv.

Re: Multilingual documents

Use character styles for this.

Creat a character style called "French", for instance. Set the dictionary to french, then you can add a keybinding for this style. Also make sure you add a keybinding in normal so you can return to the default language too.

Re: Possible Bug with “(floating)” Character Styles

You are right. I overlooked that detail. I took another look at your example file and simply changed the font for the paragraph style "Normal" and the character "Math" to something that allowed me to distinguish better the difference than a simple mono font. Everything worked as ...

Re: Possible Bug with “(floating)” Character Styles

This is because the character style "SuperScript" is begin based on "Normal" that is using the defualt font for paragraph. You need to set the desired font for the character style SuperScript to DejaVu LGC Sans Mono. I tried doing th is with the file you provided and works and yo...

Re: Missing Video Codecs

Take a look at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Codecs ... deo_codecs

Installing vlc, mplayer and/or mpv wont solve the problem.

When you use Arch linux you must do things the arch linux way.

Re: What's the difference?

About 10 to 15 years ago, using OpenType instead TrueType was a big deal for one simple reason: TrueType didn't supported ligatures. Since a few years back this is no longer the case since both formats support ligatures plus some extra features rendering the whole TrueType vs OpenType meaningless. I...

Re: This File Format is not supported

When workign with sensitive information and/or time consuming, is always a good idea to keep plenty of backups (also keep a version on a usb, an external drive or whatever you fancy just in case). It is also good idea, when the file is getting way to big, to split (manually) the document.
