Footnotes are not available in the Windows version of FreeOffice. They are available in the paid version of SoftMaker Office. It appears that footnotes is one of the features not offered in FreeOffice.

Interesting. When I check for updates, my software tells me that "No updates have been found for SoftMaker Office," yet I'm running rev S1222.1129.

Using your sample file, I followed your instructions to copy the data, open a new sheet, and paste>special>unformatted text into the new sheet.
